Dear 5th Grade Students and Parents
My name is Jeff Soulliere. I have been teaching Religious Education/CCD to the public school children on Wednesday evenings for 8 years. During the day, I am a Network Design Engineer for manufacturing plants with Rockwell Automation. My wife and I have been at St Roberts for 3 years and prior to that at St Isadore’s in Columbus NE. We have 5 grown children and 7 grand-kids.
Objectives, Projects and Activities planned for the 5th Grade Religious Ed class:
· Overall growth in the Faith of the Church
o Growing their belief in God, their Soul and how Jesus saves us
o Knowing the words to common prayers, start to understand the meaning and purpose of them
o Learn to pray the Rosary
o Spend time learning more about the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist
o Spend time understanding the Mass and how to follow the Roman Missal
o Bible stories in both the Old and New Testament will take up the majority of the learning time.
o Circle of Grace and personal safety
o Craft projects like making their own Rosary
o 10 Commandment charades
o Acting out the Stations of the Cross
o Spending time in Church learning about what things mean
o Games with religious meaning both in the classroom and in the school gym
§ I will occasionally hand out small non-peanut based candies for prizes.
o Holy Spirit Homework where they have to perform a helpful tasks during the week
o Go to an older parishioner home near the school to pray the Rosary
o Go Christmas Caroling to homes near the church
