Dear 5th Grade Students and Parents,
Welcome to St. Robert’s 5th grade Religious Education! I hope everyone is ready for a fun and exciting year of activities, learning, and a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith.
About Mr. Podjenski:
I am currently teaching biology and forensic science at Omaha South High School. I have worked over the past nine years in afterschool programs including Kids Team at St. Roberts and Omaha Public Schools. In addition, this is my eighth year teaching Religious Education at St. Roberts. Two years were dedicated to helping with the Special Religious Education students, four years with fourth grade, and this is my second year with fifth grade!
This year we will be doing many different projects and activities. I hope to engage the students in a variety of learning techniques and completing projects in class so there should not be any homework.
In fourth grade, students studied the basic layout and stories of the Old and New Testament in the Bible. This year, students will take a deeper look into those stories, viewing the morals, ethics, and life lessons conveyed by the scripture writers.
What to Bring:
Students will need to bring a folder and a pen or pencil each week for different activities and prayers. However, students do not need to bring any material on Mass Days.
If there are any questions, you are more than welcome to contact me through the Religious Education Office at 402-333-1959 or email at
Thank you and welcome to a new and exciting year at St. Roberts!
